If you’re looking to practice your rock climbing skills in Chengdu, there are only a handful of places that you can do that. Located in the South of Chengdu next to the Tongzilin Carrefour is Survivor Indoor Rock Climbing, has a 4-meter high wall which spans a wide room. Technically the climbing at this facility is classified as bouldering, as you climb laterally (left to right) more than up.
At Survivor there are no ropes or harnesses as you’re never more than 4 meters off the ground and there is thick padding on the floor to prevent injuries. Experienced climbers are on site and willing to offer assistance to novices at no charge.
The easiest way to find this place is to enter the mall from the same side as Carrefour and walk straight to the back of the complex and take the elevator on your right side to the 3rd floor. From the elevator you walk up two flights of stairs to find Survivor.
Prices
Climbing for 2 hours or less costs 80 yuan and includes shoe rental if you don’t have your own climbing shoes. Discounts for memberships which include unlimited climbing or for large groups. Water and refrigerated drinks are available for as low as 2 yuan in addition to beer, although they do not permit drinking and climbing.
